What In The World Is Going On?
Are you worried, frightened or just anxious right now? If so, you are certainly not alone. These are very uncertain times and as human beings we don't like uncertainty, which is rather strange since there really isn't anything certain at all except that the Sun will rise tomorrow morning and set tomorrow evening. Everything else is in constant flux and change.
Indeed, it has been said that change is the only certainty in this Universe. Beginning here in the US, the financial markets have caught a bad cold, seemingly heading for the flu! The constant drumbeat of bad news has created a national and now global state of mind that often seems just short of panic. It is certainly a time of at least "wait and see" state of mind. People I speak with from all political persuasions and walks of life want assurances that things will be all right, that all they have worked for will not disappear in this crisis. They want to know why this has happened and what can be done to fix it.
Looked at from the surface of the problem, we can say that it appears that over the past 20 years we in America and in many other areas of the world have played fast and loose with the basic tenants of sound business practice and common sense. We have transformed Wall Street from a place of prudent though never risk free, investment into a high stakes casino where totally unregulated and uninsured derivatives and other instruments are touted as "sure things" and bought not by the gullible public but by Investment Bankers sporting MB A's from Harvard, Wharton, and other great temples of business learning across the globe. These men know nothing of the production of goods and services; only the skillful movement of money around the globe for fun and profit. They produce nothing and therein lies the spiritual and financial problem that we find ourselves trying to combat in nation after nation across the globe.
Yes, we need to treat the symptom of this mental and financial illness and treat it quickly. But the real question is what is the purpose of what is going on and what good will come from it? Any student of history will tell you that real change and progress comes only after periods of adversity or great and wrenching change. Iron only becomes steel when exposed to fire and it may be that the fires of adversity are needed to get us out of our little selves and into a state of mind in which we can see beyond self interest into the realm of the common good.
This current "crisis" is a cosmic wake up call that will change how billions live their daily lives all over this planet. We will still work, love, laugh, almost certainly pay taxes, but we will be driving cars powered by a new energy source, our homes will be powered by non petroleum sources and will all have top quality health care - never again will people die for lack of medical attention in any advanced nation. We will learn a new way to relate to each other because we will finally understand at last that we are not just physical beings but that we have a Spirit and a Soul and that we all come from the same source - call it God or Nature or the Force - it matters not.

War may not immediately cease to exist but it days will be numbered. With no scarce petroleum to fight over and with an abundant and universally available source of power, much of the reason for war will disappear. As this crisis is showing us, when America sneezes, the world catches a cold and visa versa. We are all connected financially, commercially, and by our common humanity and we will at last be consciously aware of this inescapable truth. Yes, extreme religious fundamentalism still has to be addressed; in Islam, Christianity and now in Hinduism.
Intolerance will still rear its head from time to time but I believe that this time with many staring into the abyss of a global financial meltdown, we have a chance to really understand our Oneness, how interconnected the world and all its people have become.
I believe that we are on the very threshold of a great leap forward in human spiritual evolution. About every 2,000 years of human history, we see time after time a great event that heralds the arrival of a great Soul bringing a Divine Message of a New Beginning. No, I do not believe the Apocalypse is upon us or that Armageddon is just around the corner. I do believe that a window of opportunity has opened for human kind to hear a message of Oneness, an invitation to the Higher Selves we all posses but seldom experience to become our daily reality.
When the Bible stated that the world would end and that The Kingdom of God would appear, it did not mean that Planet Earth would crumble or that human life would come to an end. What that Biblical metaphor meant is the this world (world in the sense of how we live our lives, what we think, what we believe) would give way to an Era where our eyes are opened at last and that we finally know who and what we are.
In this new Era (some call it the Age of Aquarius), we will know that God and each of us are One; not separate beings but made of the same substance. We will know that we are all gods as Jesus told us, gods in training here on earth. By that I mean that we are all created from the Divine Spark, we all have breathed the Divine Breath of God when our lungs first filled and we all are made by the speaking of God's Word in exactly the same way that She made the planets, the stars, the ether and all that exists.
In each of the preceding Eras, we have mastered a part of human existence on this Earth. Christians believe that Jesus came as the messenger of the last great change of Era, to bring the message of unconditional love and to move us from "an eye for an eye" to "turn the other cheek"; from vengence to forgiveness.
We are now about to master the final lesson of Oneness with each other and with God. We are going to witness the unfoldment of God in each of us, no matter how we conceive of God. We will know the great truth that we do have a Spirit and a Soul and that we are Spiritual Beings
having a physical experience. The truly wonderful thing is that as I right this post, I am fully aware that most of those of us reading this will live to experience the beginning of this change. We are seeing evidence of it all around us, if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.
Hang on, folks! It is going to be a bit stressful at times but what a Great New World we shall have when we get through this transition! Remember, in times of great uncertainty lie the greatest opportunities.
May God bless you with serenity, wisdom and peace during the days and years ahead and may you know and experience the indwelling God that is emerging in you!
AND SO IT IS!
