The Law and You
On this blog we talk about "The Law" quite often. What do we mean when we say the "Law"?
In the Science of Mind we believe that the entire Universe and everything in it is a result of the thought of God, the Universal Mind, the Divine Intelligence. God always acts in accordance with a series of Laws, that He instituted and through which He creates and runs the Universe. These Laws are totally predictable, absolutley dependable, and always immutable. Our greatest gift from the Father is that we are given the authority and right to learn these Laws and to use them. There is a power for Good in the Universe and we can use it! That Power for Good is God and His Spiritual and Physical Laws.
God is the I AM, the Alpha and the Omega (beginning and end). God was not created, has always existed. God is not absorbed by its creations but works in and though them. God is pure thought, has no physical form except that of its creations. God experiences on the plane of thought but cannot experience anything in this physical plane, except through that which it creates - you and I and all the rest of the physical Universe. This is one reason why God sends Prophets or most importantly, Jesus The Christ, so that God may walk among us and experience what we experience. In fact, all of God's creations are the very body of God. Yes, you and I are part of the body of God. Wow! That is a mind bender, but true. This is the literal meaning of the phrase: God and I are One. Yes, we are all One with God, the separation lies in the error thinking we have been taught and in our own ignorance of God' Laws.
This is what the Bible is telling us when it says that we "live and move and have our being within the body of God". We are to God as the cells of our body are to us. One and the same - different only in scale. Are we God? Yes, in a sense, each of us is a spark of Divinity but God's Light is as the Sun's Light, ours is as a 100 watt light bulb. Both are light but vastly different in scope and power. Our power can create a heaven or hell in our lives. God's power creates the Cosmos and all that is in it.
What do you need to know about God's Laws to use them? Here are the basic Laws of the Spiritual Universe. You will be able to see their counterparts in the physical laws of mathematics and physics. They are one and the same.
1. The Law of Cause and Effect - The root of all Creation, the basic law of the Universe. For every effect or circumstance, there is a cause. Nothing ever happens without a cause. God is First Cause - the beginning of all causation. All effects stem from that First Cause. We are an effect of God's thought - we are literally a thought in the Mind of God - yes each one of us!
In our lives we see effects and conditions all around us. They all came from the same cause and that is us. We are each the cause of our life experience. We draw to or repel from us all things in our lives. We do this by means of what is inside of us. Our inner state of being either attracts what we want in our lives or pushes it away. It all depends on what we expect out of life and what we believe that we deserve to have.
A last word on the Law of Cause and Effect. You can never treat an effect at the level of the effect. To remove an effect or create a new one, you must work at the level of cause. Nothing is created at the level of effect - effects are the residue of cause. The cause of all of your life is your thinking and speaking. Change your thinking, speaking and beliefs and change your life! Be you transformed by the renewal of your Mind: Romans 12:2
A good example of working at the level of effects would be moving from city to city, expecting things to be better in the new surroundings. There is nothing wrong with getting a fresh start but wherever you go - there you are! Nothing will change but the faces and the scenery until you change, from the inside out. Changing jobs, changing wives, changing addresses is like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic - a colossal waste of time and energy. The only way to patch the hole in your personal Titanic is to get to the cause of the condition and remove it. Remember the source of your power is God, get God at the center of your life and clean up your "stinking thinking"!
2. The Law of Attraction: The Law of Attraction states that who you are deep inside is a magnet for whatever is in your life. Everything in your life is there because you drew it to you - consciously or unconsciously. What you think about yourself, about other people, about life; will draw prosperity, wealth, happiness, friendship or struggle, poverty, illness, and loneliness. Your heaven or hell of a life is a perfect reflection of the YOU inside of YOU! This is all about taking responsibility for your life and all that is in it.
Now many people have said to me that they did not create any of the mess in their lives, it was dumped on them by outside forces or people beyond their control. That is NEVER true - is is the great cop out, the eternal whine of the loser. Imagine if that were really true, what a horrible experience all of our lives would be. We would be the eternal victims of people we could neither influence nor control. In order to heal our lives we would have to send the entire world to the psychiatrist! What a hopeless mess this life would be! The day you take responsibility for your life and the shape that it is in, that is the day you will be FREE!
You attract everything in your life with your attitudes, beliefs, consistent habits of thinking and speaking. Ask yourself this. Why does one salesman always seem to have an office full of prospects and prospers no matter what the economy is doing? Others stand around and gripe about "bad times and play "ain't it awful" all day. Is the busy prosperous salesman favored by God or is he a super person? Neither, he or she is a person who carefully tends his state of mind as you would tend a lovely garden. The master user of the Law, like our prosperous salesman abhors the weeds of negativity and despair. They will not partake of guilt or regret. They will not speak of anything that is not of good report, that does not uplift and improve. No wonder everyone wants to be around them; wants to do business with them. They are a success and money magnet, not only because of what they do, but more for who they are!
There is a gentleman where I work at my "day job" who epitomizes the Law of Attraction better than anyone I have ever known. His name is Demond. He believes that he is truly blessed by God and so he is.
What we believe and expect, we surely do receive. He was born no more blessed than you or I. But he knows who he is and likes who he is. In contrast, many of us are filled with guilt and self loathing in our heart of hearts. You can never reap the harvest the Father has given you until you learn to love you and to love God. Demond lives the blessing - many of us just talk about it and wish for it. A wish is simply delayed disappointment. You must know it and claim it as yours in order to see it appear in your life.
Demond has a smile that comes from deep within, it radiates and brightens everyone and every place that he goes. He loves life, loves people and loves God; drawing God's Good to himself and his family like a magnet. He knows that God is his source and his power. He may not know that he is using God's Law to run his life but he surely is a master practitioner of God's Laws of Spiritual Living. I wish you could meet him - you would come away feeling that your world has become a brighter place.
Every person who reads this, all over this planet, has been born with the power of Demond. It is your birthright - it is your destiny; if you will do the work and make the changes inside of you. Nothing in your life will change until you do! As the Master said: "Greater things than I have done will you do also". You and I are born of the Most High God. There is nothing we cannot achieve or have or do; if we will learn God's Laws of Living, trust in our God and work for the Highest Good of all concerned.
