Pray Without Ceasing !
No, he did not! He understood the true nature of prayer. Prayer is to thought as a laser is to light. Prayer is finely focused thought with the power to renew our hearts and minds and allow God to do a work in us. Prayer gets "us" out of the way and allows our Divine Mind, our Higher Self, to come to the fore. That is when God can work for us and through us. The "us" I am speaking of is our Ego selves, the Dore', John, Joe and Susan of us. It is the part of us that denies the existance of God, that thinks that our little minds are the ultimate in intelligence. Our Ego is what often get's in the way of our best life.
Prayer is widely misunderstood as a form of begging for favor from a rather fickle super being. It is not begging, rather it is demanding, knowing and accepting. It is always in the present tense, never in the future or past. The present is the only point in our lives that we can control. It is the point of all power. We have already created our past; it can be forgotten or learned from but not changed. We are creating our future right here in the Now by what we think, believe, speak and choose today. Our prayer today is the impregnation of our future.
God has promised us an abundant happy and purpose filled life, but God needs us to do our part in order to bring this life to into being. We are partners in life creation with God - it is not Her job to create our life, it is ours and ours alone. It is God's job to create us, to give us the creative power within us and to endow us with every faculty and talent needed to create what we want and deserve. Our job is to trust implicitly the promise of God' s bounty, to expect it and indeed demand it. It is our job to design the life we want, declare that we shall have it and then prepare to receive it knowing that it is ALWAYS done as we truly believe. You see, friends, we always get what we really believe in and what we really expect out of life. Here are a few examples of what I mean.
If we believe that germs are everywhere and disease is prevalent, then we shall be sick. If we believe that it is a dog eat dog world of struggle and poverty, we shall experience struggle and poverty. You see, God's job is to give us just what we believe in, what we speak about, what we expect out of life. God is not so much a parent as He is a Divine Genie ready to give us what we believe, what we deserve and expect of life. Remember, God is not a human and does not judge. Good and bad are human concepts - all choices are valid to God and poverty is as reasonable a choice as riches to God because He can experience neither. We can never create a better life than we can see and believe in. Our outer world is merely a reflection of what lies within - what our anchor beliefs really are.
Right now, many in the United States are talking this nation right into a recession with daily predictions of economic woes the like of which we have not seen since Carter was President! Yes, housing prices dropped as everyone knew they would. They had to. When a home is out of reach of all but 1% of the people, sales will fall to a level where demand can again exist. It's basic economics. But this is really a good thing that had to happen to revitalize an overheated economy.
Rather than create chaos, the drop in home prices have created a "buyers" market with 6 year lows in prices and interest rates. Opportunity has been created for millions but all we speak of is the fall in prices and how this will lead to a recession. This is an example of how prayer works in the negative. You see, a prayer is a belief stated with great feeling. The pundits who forcefully forecast an economic downturn are really indulging in a form of negative prayer. And like prayer, their words are creative and are creating the very thing we do not want.
What if all of us ignored the "experts" and all went out and bought a house or a new car or furniture? Why then the companies that make these things would prosper, hire more workers, there would be more money in circulation and all talk of recession would fade. We are in control of our collective reality and our individual reality. It all begins in Mind, inside of each of us, not out "there" somewhere.
How many of us have literally prayed ourselves into sickness, poverty, lonliness, heartache without ever knowig that we were using reverse prayer by our constant talk of poverty, illness and lonliness? Know this: God never says "yes" or "no". God says "right you are" to whatever you and I focus on. This is why I tell you that what you think about, what you speak about, and what you believe is a matter of life or death in a very real sense.
You create your tomorrow with every choice you make, every word you speak. This is why Paul admonished us to "pray without ceasing". Make every thing you do a focused thought or prayer of good things, things you want and deserve for you and all those you love. To understand the power of prayer you must realize that God has already given us all we need to create Heaven right here on Earth. When you pray, you open yourself to realize what has been given to you and to accept it with gratitude.
How then, do we pray properly and wisely? Here are some points to remember and to begin to practice every night and every morning.
1. When you pray, you must realize that you are a co-creator with God. Unify your Word with the Word of God. You have been deputized by God to use the greatest power in the Universe - the same power that God used to Create this Earth, to create your life. It is your birthright to do so.
2. When you pray you must always state it in the present tense, never in the future or past tense. You must always pray in a positive frame of mind, never with fear or negativity.
3. When you pray you must have a clear mental picture of what you are creating with the prayer - be it health, wealth, love, peace, a home - whatever. Make that picture in your mind the focus of your prayer.
4. Pray knowing that you have already received it and be sure to thank God for the power to create what you want and for bringing the opportunities that you need to you. A sincere and humble attitude of gratitude is vital to successful prayer work.
5. Do not concern yourself with how your prayer is to come into being. That is not your job - your job is the "What", God's job is the "how".
6. At the end of your prayer, express your absolute belief that your prayer is done- complete and that you have what you desire. Without trust in God and in God's Law, which always brings us exactly what we truly want and believe in, prayer is impotent.
7. Close your prayers with the phrase "And So It Is!" By doing this, your are restating your belief that you and God have created what you want and you now need only to wait for it to appear in form. My advice, drop the Old Testament "Amen" as it means "so it shall be" in Aramaic. We don't speak Aramaic, almost no one does today, and we are not praying for something in the distant future, we are declaring what is True for us today - right here and right now!
8. God to bed or on with your day without wondering if your prayer worked. If you have doubt, you have ruined your work. You must know that your Word and God's Word are done as you speak. No doubt is allowed!

There is no greater power in the Universe than the human Mind in concert with the Mind of God. Together, our mind and the Mind of God, anything is not only possible but easy!
God Bless and keep you until my next post!
