The Inner You!
The greatest idea in the Universe is that everything begins in Mind. It is the key to all creation. It is the answer to every question; the root of all knowledge. This one great idea of Universal Truth unlocks the secret of health, wealth and happiness. The control lever of your life is your mind - it's all in you!
Where is Mind? Is it up in the sky somewhere? Is it God? Is it an old man in a white robe in the "Heavens"? Is it high on a mountaintop? Where is our mind? We all posses one but how many of us even know where it is, much less how it works or what it does?
Science cannot tell us. Scientists and doctors can see the activity of the mind when they monitor the brain but scientists have come to realize that what they are observing is the mind using the brain; they are not observing the mind itself. In other words, the observer sees the operation of the computer; not the great Mind whose fingers are on the keyboard. Theology can only say that it is a mystery.
The Master Teacher, Jesus of Nazareth, did not feel that it was a mystery at all. Jesus described Mind when he talked about the Kingdom of Heaven. He was telling us that the Mind of God and our mind are connected and made of the same substance. This is what Scripture means when it tells us that we are made in the image and likeness of God. We do not have the same physical body as God, I am quite sure God has no need of this spacesuit we call a body. However, our mind and God's Mind are the same mind; the difference being only of scale. God is Mind, we are made of Mind because God is the Great Mind or Intelligence in the Universe and God creates out of its own substance.
The Universe then is the result of the operation of Mind; this Universal Intelligence that we call God. Thus we can see that the Universe and all that is in it, including each of us, makes up the body of God. Science has for hundreds of years sought to understand how the perfect order that obtains in this Universe can exist without a great Soul, a great Mind - a God behind it all. They will never find the answer they seek. The greatest minds of the Scientific world such as Albert Einstein, have concluded that there is a controlling Mind or Intelligence behind all creation - such perfect order can be no random accident.
All right, you say, I can see that everything begins in Mind but isn't my life determined by my circumstances? Isn't life just a matter of wise responses to the stuff that Life throws at me? No, your circumstances are the result of your prior thinking and believing or if you are very young, that of your parents. You see, you were born into someone else's mind creation. You were born into a ready made life, created by the beliefs, choices and thinking of your parents. Of course, you did agree to come into this particular life or you would not be there, but that is for another post.
Does this mean that your life is pre-determined by your parent's life into which you were born to be what your parents want you to become? Only if you consent to it! Yes, it can be tough to chart a new course with new beliefs, new thinking, and new choices but nothing worthwhile ever comes without a corresponding price.
You can walk the well hewn path of your parent's thinking and beliefs or you can create a new frontier of your own. You will be influenced by your parents but you can pick their wisdom and allow it into your subconscious and discard those ideas that do not serve you. You are the guardian at the gate of your subconscious mind. You decide what comes in and what stays out. What is in your subconscious is what determines your life!
Your responsibility to God is to be true to yourself. You have to be what you are called to be. You have to do what your heart impels you to do. To do otherwise is to live a counterfeit life and that is a life not worth living. Remember, it all begins in Mind. Your outer reality is merely a mirror reflecting back what is inside of YOU. If your outer world is just the way you want it, keep doing and thinking what you are doing. If not, then your entire inner life will have to change in order for your outer circumstances to change.
How do we change our life, our circumstances? There is only one way. You must kill your old life by ceasing to focus on it, think of it or give it any mental juice. Starve it by lack of attention. Do not think what if, if only, I wonder what. This kind of useless speculation will lead you down the blind alley of regret and you will be marooned in the dead past.
To change your outer reality, change your inner conversation. To change every area of your life, change what you expect, what you talk about, what you watch and read, who you allow into your life. This may mean that people, places, jobs, friends may have to change. Spend not one minute of your day thinking about what you don't want. Do not spend one second preparing for something bad to happen or entertaining fear about anything.
Get a crystal clear picture of your desire (all creation begins with a desire). See this picture as done in the present. All power is in the present. Imagine how you are acting now that your desire has been achieved. What are you saying, to whom, where are you? Taste it, smell it, live it as though it were done.
Have the consciousness of a expectant mother. She knows that she will have a child, she plans for the child, she paints the nursery, she gets ready for the child, because she knows that the child is on the way. She knows that in 9 months from conception her baby is born. She does not prepare for the worst, worry about what if the child does not come or question whether this one time, the baby will take only 3 months to be born. She lives in the end - she trusts the process of creation. That is what you must do with your desires. Trust in the process, let God handle the details and get ready to receive your desire. It is the Law, the Law of Mind Action that if you expect your good, if you focus on your good and if you know that your good is here - it will be here.
Be like the expectant mother in all areas of your life and watch your life bloom with every good thing that your heart and hands can hold.
